Week 8-Happy New Year

Yes I know. I am a day late. But I went to see Annie the musical yesterday, and man, was it awesome! Mark my words, I will be doing that someday.

ITM. Is sort of up to a part where I have to explore ideas. So it usually seems as if I haven't done much. I have put a few web designs into illustrator, I already don't like one of them so I chucked it. My favourite so far is the pictured one. I have still got to work out backgrounds, if I want any. I liked the look of this one because It is just simple. I believe at first glance it looks like a stationery company. I have obviously gone with monochromatic blues. With my 'highlight' colour, or opposing colour, as orange/red. I also found a free font that looked similar to my logo font. This will just be for headings, I think i'll just use the usual myriad pro for the body. I'll play around with it.

DRAMA is the same. Just practising my monologue over and over.

ART is again the same. I finished one part of my project, the questions about the conceptual framework. I think to do the rest I will need to know what I am doing for my prac. I have to keep exploring.

ITM industry case study

I met up with Jo from Jr Interactive yesterday! She was so different to what I imagined, but she was awesome. I didnt meet up to interview her though, it was just a meet and greet. She did say she is about half way through the questions and she will have them to me very soon. She even said she felt honoured to have been chosen! haha! She does some pretty neat stuff. If you look on their website here, they do some pretty big projects. She even said that if I am good at what I do I may have a job there. WOW, got my foot in the door already! I may actually be doing a little job for her and my dad this holidays.

Week 7-Merry Christmas

What an interesting week this has been.

ITM is fairly good. This week I have decided on five possible website layouts and I have started to put them into Illustrator. I think my favourite ones are the ones that include alot of negative space and are different to the usual on the web these days. I have researched the pristine size for what I am doing, which is about 960px wide and possibly 600px height. I may change this later if I end up finding out this is a silly size. It will be a fixed width and a centre aligned overall design. This is because I have found that it works better for more computers, and I 'asked the experts' and this is what they recommended.
I also finished my designs. I was getting so sick of being stuck on the last one so I modified one of my earlier sketches. This is what they would look like as notebooks. How cool!

DRAMA is pretty awesome atm. I have been practising my monologue heaps and I know about half of it. My parents think im a weirdo now, I always walk around reciting random bits. Haha.

ART is going slightly slow. I am up to a part where I need to explore ideas. I usually come up with good ideas when I am half asleep or in an 'arty' mood. I have been trying though. My latest idea was to create a shadow art where I am commenting on the misleading image people can cast of themselves. So i could have a whole stack of makeup products casting a shadow of a person. Im not sure if its good, but its an idea.

Week 6-The holiday season

Merry Christmas!

ITM has not been my focus at the moment. Although, I have been playing around with a few ideas and working on my folio. My industry case study, JR Interactive, have got the interview questions and I may be meeting up with them soon.

DRAMA is usual. Just going through lines randomly throughout the day. Most people start wondering what I am doing!! haha!

ART has a big project due first day back, so obviously this will be my focus!! I have had some progress; I recreated the artwork of Kumi Yamashita. I found out that for it work really well you need a direct light. Or more direct than a torch. It also works better with cardboard. So bunnings here I come.
The process I used for this included drawing what I want the shadow to turn out like then photocopying it and shrinking it one way and stretching it the other. Then you can just work out what looks best with the light.
I think for my major I would have to mount it onto a bit of wood or something and have the light mounted as well, so all they would have to do is to switch on the light. Great, For this im going to need to get an electrician. oh well. Here is my try. Ill first have to get a good light and then fiddle with it.

Week 5- THE END OF THE WORLD

yes, i know. I MISSED FRIDAY!
I had dancing, a dinner party and i had to get ready for one of my dancing concerts. EXCUSES EXCUSES.
Anyway, its better late than never eh?

ITM has had little progress. Its been a fairly big week. I did come up with another design though.

DRAMA is starting to get hard to memorise. I know about 2 minutes of my major. I also recently did an assessment and got 81 for it! I felt very happy with that :D

ART: I am freaking out a bit about this one. We have a project due the first day back, and we were meant to be doing throughout this term BUT we were not told that. The whole class now has to do a whole project during this 7 week holiday. oh well. It actually is a project that keeps us on track with our major.

Less than three.

Week 4

After a very productive week comes a slow one. I had a few assignments that I needed to focus on. so yeah.

ITM has not had much progress. I have, however, tested out after effects. I did this a little while ago. It was pretty good and  I eventually got the hang of it. Unfortunately, I have not uploaded it. :P

DRAMA has not had any progress either. All of my focus has been on the group work due tuesday.

ART is good. I am now going to study the artist, Kumi Yamashita. Her artworks are incredible and are definitely along the lines of what I want to do for my major. She is so inspirational.

Week 3-Its a long one!

It has been such a rollercoaster week!! One of the highlights though, is that I received two major awards at my school presentation!! One for excellence in technology, BOOHYAH, and one for leadership, WOW! I know this blog is meant to be about my majors, not my feelings, but my feelings/week affects my majors. So atm I am feeling pretty good, and obviously got a bit done on my majors!

ITM is going really good. I am really happy with my progress! I have made a few test stop motions. They are pretty bad, but they are only tests. Heres the link. The camera moves around quite a lot as i did not put my camera on a stable area (it was on a bean bag on top of my desk, talk about improvising!), it also did not have ANY preparation or storyboard. I really just did what i wanted to test out. Its pretty weird.
I have also decided to change one of my style groups for the stationery into Animalpop. Ill see if it works out, I don't know, if I don't particularly really like a design i scrap it. I want to put my best forward and something that i like, i want to show me in my project i guess. So far i have seven designs I like. My latest one is for Animalpop. I call it dragon/fish. It could be both! I absolutely love it and how its so trippy! haha!

I have also started on my folio! I have finished the statement of intent, limitations and specifications. Though, this could easily change throughout the project. I have also decided to use Adobe Indesign. I find that it gives you so much more freedom than word, and it is much easier to create a book than illustrator. I just have to learn a few extra things, but its not too bad! I am at least getting the basics. I m not too sure how to add page numbers though, ill have to research that one.
I think that is it. If i think of any thing else i have done, ill post later.

DRAMA is meh. Just having a few group problems with our latest project. s'all good. I have not even touched this major this week I don't think. I was actually sick for a bit of this week. huh.

ART is confusing my brain! We have this massive book with a bunch of stuff we have to do. but the teacher sort of insists that we study something else. I think we are expected to complete it all at home. I am not going to be able to create two artworks from home. I have quite a few questions regarding this project.
I have, although, started my folio with the artist's intentions and contract. I have a fair way to go. At least i have, what, seven weeks to do it!

I thought it was a cool idea. It seems an easier way to use stop motion. For my major I want to create a TV advertisement for my pop stationery. So theres this idea, or there is the idea of using paper. Both would take up a lot of time (even though it would only be 30 seconds), but thats what you have to do to get the marks so...

Week 2

It was a bit of a weird day today. Firstly I found out that I wont be captain of my school, I had an art excursion which was awesome, and my english teacher is leaving at the end of the year. I honestly improved so much thanks to him. So I am a bit messed up and mixed atm. Sorry if my post is weird too.

ITM: I did end up doing 3 advert storyboards and my design statement. I also finished a few more designs.
Heres my business statement:

'Add a little something to your day'
At POP, We aim to create good looking and affordable stationery for the dedicated collector to the school student. We strive to keep all of our products looking clean and fresh while adding a little fun and imagination.

Drama: I have started to memorise the first few paragraphs. I also decided that the character will be quite girly, seeing as the monologue is very dramatic. I sort of wanted to base my character on legally blonde.

Art: This shadow art thingo is wicked!!! i am so going to explore it.
We had an excursion today to look at the sculptures by the sea at bondi. There were some very interesting artworks there!!

Week 1

Ok, I know I posted yesterday BUT it is friday.

ITM
Is still hopelessly trudging along. I'm pretty sure it is normal not to like your designs but this is getting ridiculous!!
I am going to do a business statement and storyboard for my ad this weekend. Hopefully.

DRAMA
Tis good.
We are practising our group work and we have a project on 'stolen'. I think we have come up with some really good stuff!!

ART
At school today, we did an experiment with truisms (statements true to yourself about a particular subject). I went along the lines of 'Do you really need to do that to feel accepted? ' 'What you are wearing now, was most likely made by someone younger than you' etc. We went around and put them up in the school. I think my favourite was 'How come undies are made of denim, nowadays?' HAHAHA love it. Our class came up with some really good ones.
It was funny how everyone reacted differently!!
My actual major has had no progress.

This is the beginning.

HELLO BLOGGING WORLD.

I'm an Itm, Drama and Art student juggling three majors. This blog is really just for me to keep myself accountable for these projects and work on them continuously. So, I aim to write at least one each week on friday until I hand the projects in. It's going to be an interesting year!!

So far for ITM, I have come up with the idea of creating a stationery company with a website and advertisement. I have already started creating the stationery, it was looking good, but now it's looking bleak! Oh, the life of a designer/artist. I never seem to like my designs, out of all nine i created, i scraped five and kept three.
The company is called POP. I thought it popped, haha! I had originally three groups of stationery; colourpop, oceanpop and playpop. But i think this may change. I find all of my designs, if i go along with these groups, are corny and girly.
but anyway, Ill keep at it. Ill get there eventually.
Heres one of my designs i am happy with :) Being my major work I thought i had better put my naem on it.

DRAMA isn't going too bad. I think i have found my monologue already! Its about a character who is stuck inside a monologue. It's difficult to understand when i say it like that but how else can i explain it? It's actually quite a funny monologue!! I start accusing the audience of being aliens and all that jazz!!
As for memorising it, the first paragraph is pretty much in my head. Ill keep going.

ART is a bit of a tough one. I think i'm going to explore the idea of misleading. I could use the silhouette of a person, but use, lets say, prints of leaves to make the hair and a feather for the dress. I dont know. My art is weird. From far away it looks beautiful but close up its not.

Well, lets do it.
